The first advisory workshop with the private sector for the Center of Excellence

On November 15th, Vocational Education Program I (VEP I) project, following series of individual consultations, organized the first advisory workshop with the representatives of the private sector and business associations in Tbilisi to present the concept of the new Center of Excellence, established with German (KfW) and Georgian Government funding. The aim has been to discuss how the new institution will serve private sector needs and meet expectations as a hub for tailor-made services to construction and logistics sector companies.

The architectural design of the innovative campus to be established in Didi Dighomi was also presented to the audience.

Over twenty companies and business association representatives attended the workshop and shared their views and expected cooperation with the new institution. Most of them agree that construction and logistics sectors are in crucial need of such a hub of excellence to build a high-quality workforce. However, it needs extra efforts to attract the new generation for vocational education. The CoE is expected to be a game changer offering highest quality in technology, applying learner centered approaches in training and education and providing modern learning environments by an innovative campus design.

At the end of the workshop, the participants agreed to build a long-term partnership and to use this cooperation platform throughout the set-up and operation of the Center of Excellence.

Marita Münks, PEM Managing Director: “We are pleased to see such an active engagement and cooperation from the private sector. Their involvement once again highlights the importance and urgency of such a project. We will continue using this platform and periodically organize such meetings, on one hand, to keep our key stakeholders informed on the project progress, and on the other hand, to hear their views and recommendations during the planning and implementation process, rather than afterwards.”
