The consultative meeting with the members of German Business Association

The Vocational Education Program (VEP I) continues organizing consultative meetings with the members of construction and logistics industries. On May 3rd, the project team had an opportunity to present the concept of the new Center of Excellence and discuss how the new institution can respond to the needs of the private sector, at a consultative meeting with the members of the German Business Association, organized together with DWV and PEM Consult.

The meeting was attended by more than 60 participants, including the representatives of the private sector, business associations, TVET colleges as well as the representative of Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the German Embassy, KfW and GIZ.

In their welcoming remarks, the representatives of MoES, German Embassy and KfW outlined the importance of establishing the first Center of Excellence of its kind which will bring the best international and German experience in the Georgian context of vocational education in the sectors of construction and logistics, thus taking the vocational education in Georgia into a next stage of development for better serving the needs of the industry.

The representatives of the private sector expressed their immense interest in the project and demonstrated readiness to actively cooperate with the new institution in terms of offering dual and cooperative programmes, human capital development, teacher/instructor training, apprenticeship opportunities, etc.

The key expectation of the industry towards the new institution is to pioneer the new professions, bring the best of technological innovation and industrial development with real working experience into the Georgian TVET system.
